The Professional Body for Environmental Hygiene (PBEH) organised a business breakfast held at the Protea Hotel Midrand on 3 November 2023. Professional cleaning sector delegates attended the presentation by keynote speaker Dr. Wynand Goosen titled ‘The Power of Designations in Shaping the Cleaning Industry’. The enlightening presentation offered insight on the value and significance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and occupational qualifications.
Professional designations developed and issued by the PBEH, act as a visible testament to an individual’s commitment to professionalism in the industry. It serves as a clear signal to both employers and clients that the holder has not only acquired the necessary qualifications but has also undergone rigorous assessments to meet and maintain industry standards.
Conversely, educational qualifications in the form of occupational awards provide a more comprehensive foundation. As accredited qualifications, offered by reputable providers and approved by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), they offer a structured educational path with six levels, ensuring individuals are well equipped with the skills needed for success in various aspects of the cleaning industry. Unlike professional designations, educational qualifications do not expire, providing a timeless testament to an individual’s commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
